Dark-skinned South Asians have been hit by both the unfounded, Trump-induced association with COVID-19, as well as prejudice against people of color and the generational delusions that white humans are superior… I’m sorry, but a lack of melanin, from a scientific perspective, does not make a group of humans superior. Quite frankly their ignorance towards the concept of race is shallow and unacceptable in this day and age. I see it as deliberate ignorance, self serving at best, to those who seem to rely on putting those they perceive as “other” in a lower or lesser class in order to make themselves feel superior.
Race is a social phenomenon rather than a biological one. Noah represents an immigrant who, in his native Sri Lanka, was revered, along with his family, and his family that came before him, for hundreds of years, as they are descended of royalty bloodlines there. He and his family were forced out of their country due to drug-related corruption and death threats. In America, he’s perceived as inferior due to having more melanin in his skin and has been relegated to lesser jobs, despite having a much higher education than most Americans. This widespread racism is unforgivable.
I see this all over America. Doctors working at McDonalds, Architects as garbage men. We are a lesser nation because we do not value each other’s potential due to politics and ignorance. Children know better than most adults. All people are created equal. Let’s start acting with that American mandate. America is greater when we embrace ALL cultures.
