This piece came out of a merger of two disparate influences, the war in Ukraine where I am so humbled by the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people and Fashion Designer Yannik Zamboni’s work, @yannikzamboni (seen on Amazon’s fashion competition series Making the Cut) who I was inspired by from the first piece he showed on the runway, and his work only got more exciting as the season continued.

Yannik’s empathy, welcome resistance against norms, and inner strength shows in his brand, @maisonblanche.swiss from his fabric choices and deconstruction of fashion basics, to his finding beauty where others rarely see it. What I find powerful is that Yannik is able to open people’s eyes to that unique beauty. I believe his distinctive fashion voice, threaded with his admirable stance on global issues, primarily sustainability, and a clear focus on ethical, socio-political, ecological, and economic pillars, will hopefully have a tremendous positive impact on the industry.
This piece was created through a lot of trial and error, as well as learning from folks on Discord.com. There were many many iterations using MidJourney, where I merged photography, prose, and fabric samples as referential material and then I refined and detailed the resulting outputs in Photoshop, ultimately upscaling them for printing in Topaz Labs, Gigapixel AI software - which is brilliant for enhancing blurred photos and giving them new life.
